Loan

A library card is issued free of charge to everyone over 18 years of age who has valid identification with photograph and is registered in Sweden.

People not registered in Sweden can sign up as borrowers on presentation of a valid passport or other identification with photograph if their stay will last longer than 3 months from the date of receiving a library card. A permanent address in Sweden as well as the complete address in the native country must be indicated on the library card contract.

Terms of loan

-As a borrower you undertake to keep yourself updated on the library’s loan conditions and rules for use of the library’s computers. All information is announced on the library’s home page.

-Always notify any change of address, name and e-mail to My Loans on the library’s home page or contact Customer Service by telephone or e-mail.

-Report a lost loan card to the library immediately. A borrower is responsible for all loans made with the card up until when the loss has been reported.

-You must always have your loan card with you when borrowing. All loans are to be registered in Customer Service or at the automated check-out.

- Library material must be handled carefully. It is not allowed to mark, underline etc. the material.

-As a borrower, you are personally responsible for returning books in the same condition as on the occasion you borrowed them and at the latest on the return date specified, alternatively, re-new your loan before expiry of the date. This also applies when away on practice, illness, travels etc.

-As a borrower you are personally responsible for your loans until they have been de-registered. Loans cannot be transferred to someone else.

-Loans are returned at the automated book drop or in the book shute outside the library, alternatively, at the manned Customer Service desk.

-There is an overdue fine of 10 SEK per day and per item for unreturned material. You will be automatically barred from further loans and use of the library’s computers from the first day of expired loans.

-As a borrower you are bound to replace unreturned, damaged or lost works with new, identical copies, alternatively, pay a standard sum of 500 SEK as well as 100 SEK as administrative costs for each item. After a third reminder about unreturned material, you are billed for missing books. Written reminder about bill will cost 50 SEK extra Unatended bills will go to Inkasso. The paid sum is forfeited even if the items are found later.

-Borrowers who constantly violate the library rules can be suspended from borrowing material and using the library’s computers. Decisions on suspension are made and revoked be the Chief Librarian.

-Details of individual loans, orders and reservations are not divulged according to the Official Secrets Act Chapter 9, §22 (SFS 2009:400). The Personal Act (SFS 1998:204) applies when handling personal information.
